The houses we fit bathrooms in around Wrexham
Wrexham's housing tells you most of what a bathroom job will involve before we open the door. Caia Park, laid out in the early 1950s as the biggest council estate in Wales, is mostly solid-built semis with a small square bathroom upstairs, a separate toilet next to it and a cast-iron soil stack on the outside wall. The job that transforms those houses is knocking the two rooms into one and fitting a walk-in shower, and because the stack is where it is, the toilet rarely needs to move far.
Acton Park, the 1920 garden-village estate, and the 1960s and 70s private houses on Borras Park have bigger rooms and timber floors, which makes wet rooms straightforward. The Victorian villas along Grosvenor Road and Fairy Road, both conservation areas, have high ceilings, lath-and-plaster walls that need boarding before tiles, and bathrooms that were added later in odd places; the Hightown terraces have the bathroom in the back addition, long and narrow with the window at the end. On the new estates off Mold Road and Ruthin Road, and the Brymbo Steelworks site, the developer bathroom is the one customers want replaced after a few years: thin tray, waist-height tiles, pedestal basin.
Wrexham water and your new bathroom
Wrexham is supplied by Hafren Dyfrdwy, the company formed in 2018 from Dee Valley Water, and the water is moderately soft: the supplier lists the Wrexham, Legacy and Llwyn Onn zones at 72 milligrams per litre of calcium carbonate, and Brymbo softer still. In practice that means limescale is a minor problem here compared with Shropshire or Cheshire, so shower glass, chrome and electric shower elements last longer, and you do not need a water softener to keep a rainfall head clear. What soft water does not fix is pressure; parts of the city on older mains have modest flow, and we measure it at the survey before recommending a shower.
Building control, conservation areas and the paperwork
Wrexham County Borough Council runs its own building control service from Lambpit Street. New drainage connections, structural changes and bathroom electrics under Part P are the things it needs to know about on a bathroom job; the electrics are self-certified by the registered electrician we work with, and we tell you before the start which notifications apply to your job. If your house is in one of the city's conservation areas (the town centre, Grosvenor Road, Fairy Road, Salisbury Park or Hightown Barracks) the position of an external extractor vent on a street elevation is worth a thought, and we route ducting to the back where we can.
Choosing a bathroom in Wrexham
Wrexham is well served for seeing bathrooms before you buy, which makes supply and fit easier here than anywhere else we work. City Plumbing on Rivulet Road and James Hargreaves at Felin Puleston are the trade merchants, and James Hargreaves has a showroom with displays you can walk round. Easy Bathrooms and Tiles at Berse Road Retail Park and Wickes at Border Retail Park carry suites and tiles off the shelf, and there are independent showrooms on the industrial estate and at Rhosddu. If you would rather we shortlisted, we bring samples to you and quote each item at its price.

Example scenario: a Caia Park semi
A 1950s semi on Queensway with a 1.9 by 1.7 metre bathroom and a separate toilet beside it. We take the dividing wall out, fit a 1400 by 800 walk-in shower where the bath was, a wall-hung toilet on the stack wall, a 600 millimetre vanity, wall panels in the shower and porcelain on the floor, a humidity fan ducted to the back, and new lighting. Six working days, the toilet back in use by day three.
A burst pipe or an overflowing toilet in Wrexham, day or night
Wrexham is our base, so a bathroom emergency anywhere from Caia Park to Gresford is a short drive at any hour: WhatsApp or ring, day or night, and we tell you straight away how soon we can be there. Water coming up through the pavement, or a leak before your outside stop tap, is for Hafren Dyfrdwy to repair; a leak inside the house is ours to find and stop.
