Buckley (Bwcle)

Bathroom fitters in Buckley, from the brickworks terraces to the new estates

Buckley is about 25 minutes from our base in Wrexham and one of the fastest-growing towns we cover, with hundreds of new homes going up on Well Street, Padeswood Road and Holmleigh Close on top of the older districts of Bistre, Lane End, Buckley Mountain, Pentrobin, Spon Green, Drury, Alltami and Mynydd Isa. That growth sets the work: developer bathrooms and ensuites replaced once their shortcomings show, alongside full renovations in the older brick-town houses, bath-to-shower conversions, wet rooms, tiling, wall panels, plumbing and repairs. Buckley is on Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, and we measure pressure and flow at the survey before recommending any shower. Free survey, itemised written quote, and the electrics that need certifying are done by a registered electrician we work with, and you get the certificate.

A town that grew on bricks and is growing again

Buckley made bricks, pottery and coal for three centuries, and its older housing is the terraces and semis that went with that work, spread across the districts rather than gathered round one centre. The last pottery kiln fired in 1946, and since then the brownfield sites have been filled with housing: the number of homes rose from about 5,330 in 2000 to 6,191 by 2014, and the pace has picked up since. On Well Street alone 242 homes are under way, 159 private houses at Hawthorn Meadows and 83 affordable homes due for completion in summer 2027; Parc Dol Gwyn on Padeswood Road is a small development of detached and town houses, and The Meadows on Holmleigh Close offers three and four bedroom detached homes.

For a bathroom fitter that means two kinds of job. In the new houses, replacing the developer's bathroom and ensuite after a few years: a better shower, tiles to the ceiling in the enclosure, wall-hung furniture and storage, usually in a week. In the older terraces and semis of Bistre, Lane End and Pentrobin, full renovations with the plumbing brought up to date and, often, the separate toilet and bathroom made into one room.

Welsh Water, and why we test rather than assume

Buckley's CH7 postcodes are almost all on Dwr Cymru Welsh Water. The supplier does not publish a hardness figure we can quote for the zone serving the town, so we do not state one. What we do is measure your pressure and flow at the survey, because on the hillier parts of the town, Buckley Mountain especially, pressure varies, and the right shower depends on it far more than hardness does.

Flintshire building control

Buckley is in Flintshire, whose building control service is in-house; it asks for a full plans or building notice application at least two working days before notifiable work starts. On a bathroom the notifiable items are new drainage connections and structural changes; the electrics are self-certified by our registered electrician. Buckley has no conservation area, so extractor vents can go where the duct run is shortest, though the Town Council offices and library on Brunswick Road are Grade II listed if you happen to own something near them.

Seeing bathrooms in Buckley

Buckley has an independent kitchen and bathroom showroom on Chester Road, Oceans Kitchens and Bathrooms, which is the nearest display for Mold as well. For a wider range, Wrexham's showrooms are 25 minutes away and Chester's Sealand Road is similar. Many Buckley customers on the new estates have already chosen online by the time they call us, and we check the order list before quoting so the shower suits the pressure and nothing is missing on the start date.

Example scenario: a new-build ensuite at Hawthorn Meadows

A four-bedroom detached house a few years old with a 1.3 by 2 metre ensuite: 800 by 800 enclosure with a sticking bi-fold door, pedestal basin, tiles to waist height. We fit a 1000 by 800 tray with a single fixed glass panel, a thermostatic mixer chosen for the measured pressure, tiles to the ceiling in the shower, a 600 millimetre wall-hung vanity with a drawer, a short-projection toilet, a lit mirror cabinet and a quieter humidity fan. Four working days.

Bathroom emergencies in Buckley and Mynydd Isa

A leak in a Buckley bathroom at night, whether in an older house in Bistre or a new home off Well Street, is a WhatsApp message or a call away; the town is about 25 minutes from Wrexham and inside our 24/7 emergency area. If the water is coming up in the road or before the outside stop tap, report it to Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, whose pipe it is.

Questions

Bathroom questions from Buckley

Do you replace developer bathrooms in Buckley's new estates?

Yes, it is a large part of our Buckley work. The positions usually stay, so a better shower, full-height tiles or panels, wall-hung furniture and a quieter fan take about a week, and we work around the house being lived in.

Is Buckley's water hard?

The town is on Dwr Cymru Welsh Water and no published figure is available for its zone, so we do not state one. We measure pressure and flow at the free survey, which matters more for choosing a shower.

Can you knock a separate toilet into the bathroom in an older Buckley semi?

Usually. The dividing wall is normally a non-structural partition and the soil stack is close by. We check both at the survey and price the knock-through as its own line.

How much notice does Flintshire building control need?

At least two working days before notifiable work starts, by full plans or building notice. We tell you whether your job includes anything notifiable (new drainage, structural work); the electrics are certified by our electrician.

Where can I see bathrooms near Buckley?

Oceans Kitchens and Bathrooms on Chester Road in the town, or the showrooms in Wrexham and on Sealand Road in Chester, both about 25 minutes away. We can also bring samples to you.
