Fitter, installer, plumber: what you are actually hiring
The names get mixed up, so here is the difference. A plumber connects water and waste. A tiler tiles. A bathroom fitter does the whole room: strips it, alters the plumbing, prepares the walls and floors, tiles or panels, fits the suite and furniture, and finishes it, bringing in an electrician for the wiring. When you hire a fitter you are hiring one person who is responsible for the result, rather than three trades who each blame the other when the shower leaks.
That is what we are. Nikolay has fitted bathrooms in every kind of house this area has: Victorian terraces in Wrexham and Chester with solid floors and awkward soil stacks, 1930s semis with cast-iron waste, post-war estates with concrete floors and small rooms, and new-builds where the developer's bathroom was the cheapest one available and the owner wants a proper one.
Fit only, if you have already bought
A lot of our work is fit only. You have found a suite you love online or in a showroom, the boxes are in the spare room, and you need someone who will fit it properly. We are happy to do that. Send us the list of what you have bought before we quote, because a few things decide how the job goes: whether the shower valve suits your water pressure, whether the toilet is close-coupled, back-to-wall or wall-hung (wall-hung needs a frame and a stud wall or a boxed section), and whether your tiles are ceramic, porcelain or natural stone, which changes the adhesive, the cutting and the time.
If something is missing, which it usually is (waste kits, flexible connectors, a tray riser kit, fixing kits for a wall-hung pan), we tell you before the start date so there are no gaps in the week.
Supply and fit, if you would rather not shop for it
If you would rather choose from a shortlist than trawl a hundred websites, we supply as well as fit. We fit brands we know will not need replacing in three years, and the quote shows each item at its price so you can swap anything you like. You see the actual products before we order, in a showroom or from samples, and the hidden parts are specified properly rather than left to chance.
The standard every bathroom we fit is held to
- Isolation valves on every hot and cold feed, so a dripping tap never means turning the whole house off again.
- Wastes laid to a proper fall and tested, with access where a trap might need clearing.
- Walls boarded flat where tiles are going; tanking behind every shower and bath area, not just the shower.
- Tiles set out from the centre of the wall so cuts are even and the eye never lands on a sliver.
- Silicone in a continuous bead on a clean, dry joint, once, and left to cure before the shower is used.
- Electrics by a registered electrician, certified, with the paperwork handed to you.
- A level, square, dry, clean room, and a walk round where you test everything yourself.
Where we fit bathrooms
We are based in Wrexham and work within about an hour's drive: the whole of Wrexham County Borough, Chester and Cheshire West, Flintshire from Deeside to Holywell, Denbighshire from Llangollen up to Rhyl and Prestatyn, the Wirral, north Shropshire including Oswestry, Whitchurch and Shrewsbury, Telford, Liverpool, Widnes, Manchester, Stockport, Macclesfield, Stoke-on-Trent, and Cheshire East towns such as Nantwich and Crewe. Every town with its own page is listed below, each written about that place rather than copied from the last one, because a Victorian terrace in Hoole and a 1990s estate in Buckley need different things from a bathroom fitter.
