Terms of business

These terms apply when Nikolay Rusanov, trading as Dee Valley Bathrooms and Renovations surveys, quotes for, fits or repairs a bathroom for you. They sit alongside your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which they do not reduce. Where you are a business customer, the Consumer Rights Act does not apply and the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 does.

Surveys and quotes

The survey and the quote are free and carry no obligation. The quote is itemised: labour by stage, materials where we supply them, waste removal and electrical work are listed separately. It is based on what can be seen at the survey. If something only becomes visible once the old bathroom is out (for example rotten floorboards, failed pipework or damp walls), we stop, show you, and agree any extra work and its price before it is done. The quoted price does not change for any other reason unless you change the job.

Materials

  • Where we supply materials, they are the items named in the quote. Substitutions are agreed with you first.
  • Where you supply materials, you are responsible for ordering the right items in time for the start date. We check your list before quoting and tell you what is missing, but we cannot be responsible for faults in products we did not supply, or for delays caused by late or damaged deliveries of your items.
  • Everything needs to be on site and checked before the rip-out day.

Payment

You pay for the materials before we start. Half of our price is paid on the day we start, and the rest when the bathroom is finished.

Dates and access

  • You get a start and finish date in writing. If a delivery or an unforeseen problem moves the finish date, you are told the same day.
  • We need access to the property on each working day of the job, parking for a van near the house, and the use of water and electricity.
  • Please clear the bathroom of personal items before we start, and tell us about any known faults, leaks or previous repairs.

Electrical work and building regulations

Electrical work that needs certifying is carried out by a registered electrician and certified under Part P of the Building Regulations; you receive the certificate. Where other work is notifiable (new drainage or structural changes), we tell you before the job starts what is needed and who notifies.

The condition of your property

All work is carried out with reasonable care and skill. Old properties can hide problems that only show once a bathroom is stripped out; where we can see a risk beforehand we tell you. We are not responsible for faults that already existed, or for damage caused by products you supplied.

Guarantee

A one-year guarantee on our workmanship

Cancellation

If you agree a job at the survey in your home rather than at our premises, you have fourteen days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you ask us to start within those fourteen days and then cancel, you pay for the work done and materials ordered up to that point.

Problems

If something is wrong with the work, tell us and we will come back and put it right. If we cannot agree, you can use the Citizens Advice consumer service or an alternative dispute resolution scheme; we will tell you which scheme we use when the issue arises.
